About Badminton Drop-ins

Badminton Drop-in Sessions

Each 'open play' group drop-in session is limited to a maximum of 5 players per court (if allocated 2 or more courts) or 6 players (if allocated 1 court).
There may be  more than 1 drop-in session scheduled at the same time on certain days/times.

If  a drop-in session is FULL when you go to make a reservation (i.e. has hit its maximum number of players)  then you may still add your name to that session but you will be on the waiting list.
Being on the waiting list means that you are waiting to be on the playing list - if there is a cancellation by a player ahead of you on the list, you will be automatically moved up one position.
Sessions may be allocated less courts than originally planned if the player list is not full.
Sessions may also be allocated more courts than originally planned if we see players on the waiting list and another court is available (either from a session that has just been allocated fewer courts or if  a court allocated for court rental is available).
In these cases the maximum number of players will be adjusted to match the courts allocated.
Only those on the playing list (not on the waiting list) will be entitled to play
If when you made your reservation, you were on the waiting list, please check the list again before coming so you know whether you will be able to play or not.

Some drop-in sessions require the participant to have a certain rating level.
Ratings are just an estimate of a player's doubles playing level.
If you have been assigned a rating, do not change it.
If you do not have a rating or you have questions about your rating, please speak to Hendry or Thomas.

Please sign up only to a level you are capable of playing at.

You may pre-register for ONLY one session per day.
If you arrive early for your session and the session before your session is not full you may ask us to extend your playing time by adding you to the earlier session as well.
If the session after your session is not full and you wish to play longer, you may ask us to extend your playing time by adding you to the  later session as well.
You may make your request to be added to the later session at any time.
When requesting to be added to the later session, priority will be given to players who have not already extended that day.
If the number of players asking to extend exceeds the number of spots available, a random draw will be used to determine who will be granted extensions.

Be prepared to play with any/all players in your session.
Also if you choose to play in a session where the rating requirement is lower than your rating we expect you to play with everyone else in that group and possibly 'play to their level' if necessary.

If you are very particular about exactly what other players you play with/against, we recommend that you instead book your own court and invite only those that you want.

If you have made a reservation to play a particular group session, you will have up to 2 hours before the start time to cancel your reservation (if you decide not to show up), if not, we will expect you to arrive NO LATER than 1 hour after the group start time.
We will impose a $5 charge to those who do not show up within 1 hour of the group start time - also, at that time we will remove you from that drop-in session so that someone else may be allowed to join the session.

Rules for all drop-in sessions:

Check-in at the pro-shop and pay before you play.

If your name is not on the list to play for a particular drop-in session you should not be on the courts at that time - If you are on the waiting list then you are not on the list to play, you are  WAITING to be on the list to play..

For 'open play' drop-in sessions:
     - No singles play if the courts are full and there are players sitting behind the courts wanting to play.
     - Play 2 games (up to 21) or 20 minutes (if not playing a game) and then let others on the court.
Lastly, follow instructions from pro-shop staff.
